I figured by using the average of my biggest users, I should have plenty of space to work with (which I have actually had to expand 2 times, so maybe not the best thought out plan, or my users are pack rats, but every time I replace a drive, it gets smaller, so I will win that war!) (I do servers separately, and management will let me throw space at them as fast as I need it, so I didn't need to get too detailed on them, this was just for end user machines). Take that and multiply it by the total number of machines. Then I divided by 10 to get my average (depending on your retention period, may need to run longer or shorter, I run most of mine on 7 day cycles) per machine. When I started using Veeam Endpoint (before I discovered VeeamONE), I took my 10 biggest space users (yes, I let my users store local, yes, I know its bad and if I thought I could win that war, I would fight it) and backed them up for a week. Then, when management makes you cut your estimate, you have a little room to spare. ![]() Figure out how much space you would need to store every backup without compression, if every disk was full that you were backing up. ![]()
